The Women’s Education Partnership, Inc. (WEP) is dedicated to the education of displaced and impoverished women and children throughout Africa. We believe that education is a human right and that it empowers women (and their children) for a better future.
WEP takes a broad view of the “education” because we realize that the obstacles to education do not always manifest as lack of access to books or schooling. Obstacles to education can include poor vision, undiagnosed chronic illnesses, malnourishment, domestic violence, political or religious persecution, and any number of other woes that keep women and children from literacy and education.
We engage in direct action, such as tutoring and mentoring, and we raise awareness among concerned individuals, private educational institutions and religious entities about the depth of the problem and ways to engage. WEP work with the refugee and asylee community in the United States as well as communities of displaced and impoverished women in Africa.
One hundred percent of WEP’s activities go to support education-related programs, and 100 percent of WEP’s activities to support education-related programs are funded by contributions.
